The third symposium on Black Sea geology was held on 01-10 October 2011 at the Novotel Convention Center in the Romanian capital. The conference lasted for five days and the next five days were devoted to the field exploration in Romania.

The regular 73rd Conference of the European Association of Geologists and Engineers (EAGE), jointly with the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), took place in Vienna on 23-26 May this year at the Reed Messe Exhibition and Convention Center, located near the world-famous Prater. The forum discussed the issues of non-traditional resources and the role of new technologies in the field of Earth sciences, mineral exploration, and environmental protection. Like previous EAGE conferences, the scientific meeting was a momentous event and outlined the new technological frontiers that science and production have achieved. The Ukrainian Association of Geologists was traditionally among the participants.
