Travel notes from the 86th Annual EAGE Conference and Exhibition in Toulouse


Oleksandr Kychka (UkrNDIgaz, Ukrgasvydobuvannya JSC) shares his travel notes from the 86th Annual Conference and Exhibition of the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE), held on 2–5 June 2025 in Toulouse, France. The event took place under the motto “Navigating Change: the Role of Geosciences in Shaping a Sustainable Transition” and brought together 5,800 delegates from 85 countries. The programme featured over 1,250 technical presentations, more than 50 strategic talks, and a large-scale exhibition with over 200 companies and organisations. Key themes included geophysics and geology, carbon capture and storage, as well as machine learning and artificial intelligence in geosciences.

In his article, the author reflects not only on the scientific programme but also on organising the trip and the conference itself, the excursion programme, the atmosphere of the city, and the value of face-to-face interaction with colleagues. The text is presented in the author’s own words, accompanied by his photographs, offering a personal perspective and impressions.
