A webinar dedicated to the application of the UNFC international resource classification will take place on April 16

On April 16, 2026, at 14:00, a webinar titled “UNFC for Mineral Resource Management under Martial Law: Ukraine’s Experience and Integration with International Standards and National Practices” will be held.

Participation is free of charge, and attendees can join via the following link.

The event is organized as part of the participation of the Ukrainian Union of Geologists in the Geological Service for Europe (GSEU) project - a strategic European initiative aimed at strengthening cooperation among geological services, enhancing data exchange, and implementing modern approaches to subsoil management.

One of the key areas of the project is the implementation of the UNFC (United Nations Framework Classification for Resources) - a universal system for the classification and reporting of mineral, energy, and other resources. It is based on three criteria: environmental and socio-economic viability, project maturity and feasibility, and the level of geological knowledge.

Ukraine has the most extensive experience among European countries in applying and harmonizing with the UNFC classification, dating back to 1997.

The webinar program includes:

  • The role of UNFC in crisis conditions: adapting the classification for resource management during wartime
  • Ukraine’s experience: case studies, challenges, and lessons learned
  • Harmonization of standards: integrating UNFC with international standards and the Ukrainian regulatory framework
  • Next strategic and tactical steps

The speaker will be Mariia Kurylo - Doctor of Geological Sciences, Associate Professor at the Institute of Geology of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, expert of the Ukrainian Union of Geologists, and national UNFC trainer.
