An article on the implementation of international standards for mineral resource assessment and management in Ukraine has been published in the journal “Mineral Resources of Ukraine”.
The article by S. F. Lytvyniuk, M. M. Kurylo and M. S. Burlutskyi examines the implementation of the criteria of the United Nations Framework Classification for Resources (UNFC) and the United Nations Resource Management System (UNRMS) in the sphere of subsoil use in Ukraine.
The authors analyse regulatory approaches and legislative changes related to the national mineral resources management system. Particular attention is paid to the assessment of the mineral resource base, the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of strategic and critical mineral raw materials, and the identification of socio-environmental and economic conditions for the industrial development of mineral resources.
The article also addresses the improvement of legal relations in the management and assessment of mineral raw materials, including resources associated with subsoil areas offered for use.
The application of UNFC and UNRMS principles is considered as an instrument for improving the assessment, accounting and use of mineral resources and developing a balanced resource management system that takes environmental and socio-economic factors into account.
