More than 60 experts from 31 organisations and 29 countries met in Copenhagen on 9–11 June to review progress and coordinate the further development of EMODnet Geology data products. The meeting focused on new geological datasets, user needs and cooperation with related European initiatives.

The EMODnet Geology project meeting, hosted by the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS), brought together project members and external participants for three days of technical discussions, project updates and collaborative sessions. Participants reviewed progress on key deliverables and agreed on priorities for the coming months.

Technical work addressed a range of marine and coastal geological topics, including sediment organic carbon, geomorphology, coastal ribbon, lithotectonic units, coastal flooding and tsunami-affected coasts, and radiocarbon dating. Breakout sessions provided an opportunity to refine methodologies, discuss challenges and establish next steps for ongoing activities.

The meeting also strengthened cooperation with other initiatives and organisations. The participation of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) opened opportunities for future collaboration, while discussions with representatives involved in SUBNORDICA, the Geological Service for Europe (GSEU) and offshore energy initiatives helped identify synergies across European marine data and policy activities.
