World Water Week 2026 will take place from 23–27 August in Stockholm, Sweden, bringing together policymakers, researchers and practitioners to address global water challenges and promote sustainable solutions.

During the event, the EuroGeoSurveys Water Resources Expert Group (WREG) and the Geological Service for Europe (GSEU) project will co-organise a session on science-based forest and landscape management to enhance water security and climate resilience.

The seminar will explore how Forest and Landscape Restoration (FLR) can strengthen water and food security, improve climate resilience and support sustainable livelihoods by integrating hydrology and ecosystem services into restoration planning. The session will also highlight science-based tools, partnerships and governance approaches that align policy, finance and local action to create water-smart, climate-resilient landscapes.
