Visit to Kyiv by Peter Verweij, CIO of the European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers (EAGE)

Despite the enormous challenges caused by Russia’s full-scale aggression, the Ukrainian geoscience community remains active and united. The EAGE service point in Kyiv continues to operate under the leadership of Dmytro Bozhezha. He organizes up to three local scientific events each year and maintains vital connections between Ukrainian geoscientists and the international community, which is currently largely cut off from regular scientific communication.

Recently, EAGE’s Chief Information Officer, Peter Verweij, visited Kyiv. During his trip, meetings were held with representatives of UkrGasVydobuvannya, UkrNafta, and DTEK. The visit also included a stop at the Institute of Geology of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

EAGE reaffirms its commitment to supporting the Ukrainian geoscience community. Despite extremely difficult circumstances, specialists continue their work, strengthen international ties, and make a significant contribution to the development of science and Ukraine’s energy sector.
