The WWF-Ukraine report is aimed at identifying key gaps in water resource legislation and supporting the further advancement of European integration reforms, particularly in the implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive.
The document highlights that the launch of accession negotiations and the bilateral screening under Chapter 27 create an urgent need to shape negotiation positions and consistently deliver on EU integration commitments.
WWF experts stress that the water crisis is a global challenge of the 21st century — and for Ukraine, in the context of war, it has also become a matter of national security. The success of European integration will depend on how quickly and effectively the country can adapt its institutions and policies to EU standards.
