On 23 March 2026, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, together with the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, held a working meeting to identify priority steps for cooperation in the field of water resources management.
The parties discussed the implementation of Ukraine’s Water Strategy until 2050, the execution of national environmental policy, and Ukraine’s obligations under European integration in the environmental sector. They also addressed the adaptation of national legislation to EU standards, particularly in water policy and climate change regulation.
The meeting included an analysis of the current state of EU environmental law implementation and the identification of further steps to strengthen institutional capacity, develop monitoring systems, and improve transparency in water resources management.
The parties agreed on the following priority areas for future cooperation:
- Technical assistance in implementing EU legislation;
- Attracting investment for the modernization of water infrastructure;
- Supporting the implementation of EU directives in water policy.
