The Ukrainian Geological Survey (The State Service of Geology and Mineral Resources of Ukraine – SSGSU), in accordance with the Subsoil Code of Ukraine, has created a unified state electronic geoinformation system for subsoil use and its components. The aim is to establish a single information space in the field of geological exploration and rational subsoil use by integrating relevant information resources and optimizing the processes for joint use of technical and software tools.
The main tasks of the unified state electronic geoinformation system are: Accounting for subsoil plots granted for use;
Storing information in the field of geological exploration and rational subsoil use; Ensuring effective interaction between subsoil users, state authorities, and local self-government bodies; Generating proper reporting on subsoil use.
The following components have already been put into industrial operation:
- State Register of Special Permits for Subsoil Use;
- State Register of Oil and Gas Wells;
- State Register of Artesian Wells;
- Catalog of Geological Information;
- Information on State Registration of Geological Exploration Works;
- Data on applications for obtaining, extending, or amending special permits for subsoil use.
Access to the state registers during martial law is open for statistical purposes and is free of charge. Subsoil users can access the registers after authorization, and only with regard to their own wells or special permits.
Other components, such as the State Subsoil Fund of Ukraine, the State Water Cadastre, and others, will be systematically added to the system once they are established.
