On April 14, the State Service for Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine and the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources of Germany (BGR) signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at establishing cooperation in the field of geology and subsoil use. The document was signed by the Acting Head of the State Service for Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine Leonid Muzykus and the President of BGR Ralf Watzel.
The document provides for the creation of a Ukrainian-German coordination committee on mineral resources, which will include representatives of the State Service for Geology and Mineral Resources of Ukraine and BGR. The committee will determine a list of joint projects and coordinate their implementation.
Among the key areas of cooperation:
- promoting the discovery and development of mineral deposits through joint research and the use of data analytics;
- modernization of geological data, in particular their digitization, systematization, as well as translation of key materials into English to increase the accessibility of information;
- attracting strategic investors through enhanced communication about Ukraine's mineral potential.
The signing of the Memorandum opens up the possibility of strengthening cooperation, in particular regarding the rational use of natural resources, digitalization of geological information, exchange of scientific and practical experience, and ensuring optimal conditions for strategic investors.
