A seminar on “Establishing the Geological Service for Europe” (GSEU) was held for third-year students of the Economic Geology program at the Educational and Scientific Institute of Geology

The seminar “Establishing a Geological Service for Europe” (GSEU) was held for third-year students of the Economic Geology program at the Educational and Scientific Institute of Geology, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

The event was organized by Nataliia Cherniienko (Ukrainian Association of Geologists) and Olena Andrieieva, lecturer at the Institute of Geology, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

Addressing large-scale transnational and continental challenges in subsoil use requires going beyond national borders. That is why the creation of a unified Geological Service for Europe is a vital step toward uniting the efforts of the scientific community and policymakers. The initiative aims to provide access to an integrated platform of geological knowledge and analytical tools to support informed decision-making.

During the seminar, students were introduced to the main objectives and tasks of the GSEU project, which is set to become a key instrument in ensuring access to reliable geological information—essential for the energy transition, environmental protection, and sustainable development.
