The State Agency of Water Resources of Ukraine has published for public consultation a draft Law of Ukraine aimed at preserving river flow and protecting rivers from pollution.
The draft law предусматриває amendments to the Civil Code and the Water Code of Ukraine in order to establish a legal framework for the development and implementation of river basin management plans.
Key focus areas of the draft law include:
- Environmental restoration - implementation of measures to preserve river flow and protect water bodies from pollution;
- European integration - further harmonisation of national legislation with European Union acquis in the field of nature restoration and environmental protection;
- Free-flowing rivers - introduction of procedures for the inspection and inventory of hydraulic structures that disrupt the hydrological regime and the natural condition of water bodies.
Comments and proposals on the draft law are accepted within one month from the date of publication of this notice at the email address of the State Agency of Water Resources of Ukraine: davr@davr.gov.ua
