On 26 June 2026, an online meeting took place between Serhiy Vlasenko, head of the Geological Surveys of Ukraine, and Subsoil, and representatives of the Association of Water Supply and Sanitation Engineers (ASTEE).
During the meeting, discussions centred on the state of groundwater monitoring in Ukraine, man-made pressures and risks caused by military operations.
Geert Menu, a representative of the Association, noted that European partners are interested in providing expert and technical assistance to Ukraine to improve the management and monitoring of water resources, particularly groundwater. Following the meeting, it was agreed that the parties would prepare proposals to form the basis of a joint project in this field.
