The European Geothermal Summit is EGEC’s Flagship Conference focusing on policies, legislation and finance for geothermal energy in Europe.
This year’s edition will focus on the measures set out in the AccelerateEU plan, as well as the need for an ambitious Geothermal Action Plan at EU level.
The venue will be The Skyline in the heart of Brussels European Quarter.
The 2nd European Geothermal Summit will provide an opportunity for industry leaders, policy makers and other stakeholders to examine how European and national policies can support the scaling up of investments and accelerate the deployment of geothermal solutions for heating and cooling, electricity generation and thermal energy storage.
The Summit will focus in particular on the proposals set out in the European Commission’s AccelerateEU plan that was announced in April. These include: creating an EU-level database of geological data; establishing geothermal de-risking schemes and insurance schemes; and promoting international cooperation on geothermal energy projects.
The EU Geothermal Action Plan will provide a unique opportunity to reset Europe’s competitiveness, energy security and the widespread availability of affordable energy. The Action Plan is expected to outline clear regulatory pathways to mainstream geothermal technologies and to commercialise next-generation solutions, which are essential for growing the uptake of renewable heating and cooling and delivering a cost-effective Electrification Action Plan.
