The Ukrainian Association of Geologists, according to its Statute, may establish and join other public associations, including international associations, or conclude agreements on cooperation and mutual assistance, to maintain direct international contacts and relations as well as to participate in the implementation of activities that do not contradict Ukraine’s international liabilities.
In order to expand professional contacts, the Ukrainian Association of Geologists became a member of international public geological organizations such as the AAPG, the EAGE, the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), the EFG and other influential professional organizations.
Association representatives participated in the EAGE conferences like the 63rd (Amsterdam, Netherlands), 66th (Paris, France), 67th (Madrid, Spain), 68th (Vienna, Austria), 69th (London, UK), 70th (Rome, Italy), 71st (Amsterdam, Netherlands), 72nd (Barcelona, Spain), 73rd (Vienna, Austria) and 74th (Copenhagen, Denmark). The most large-scale event for the geology of Ukraine and the entire region in the recent period was the Regional Conference of the AAPG ‘Exploration and Prospecting Works for Oil and Gas in the Black Sea-Caspian Region: Current Research and Future Plans’ (Kyiv, October 2010). The conference was attended by 502 delegates from 212 organizations and companies from 28 countries.
In May 2014, delegates of the Ukrainian Association of Geologists took part in the seminar of the EFG ‘Geologists of Europe in the Third Millennium’ (Palermo, Italy).
Experts of the association took part in the development for the European Commission by the Geological Society of London together with the EFG on and informative and explanatory document Geology For Society on the role and importance of geological science and practice for the solution of global problems that humanity is facing in the 21st century.
In 2015, the Ukrainian Association of Geologists, as a full member of the EFG, joined the implementation of projects commissioned by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 research and innovation program. The direct executor of the projects from the UAG is a subsidiary of the Expert Council of the UAG.
